So, last week my husband had surgery on his upper jaw. We knew it was coming, and had been planning for it for a while, so we knew the drill: he’ll be eating a liquid-only diet for 2 months, and at first just through a straw, while his jaw heals. I agreed to stick to the diet too, out of solidarity, and also because I somehow felt it justified my eating ice cream whenever I wanted. I was actually kind of excited, because I love soup and I was planning all the yummy ones we could try.
Well, it’s now been 4 days, and for the most part, it’s not too bad. Lots of fruit and yoghurt smoothies, juices, and yes, yummy soups. But in 4 days I’ve already made 4 pureed soups, and I can see that I’m going to run out of ideas fairly soon. Does anyone want to contribute a pureed soup recipe? Any other ideas for dinner through a straw? I’d welcome any suggestions, as I still have 54 days to go…
