New Fabric Collections In Stores Now: Introducing Moonlit and Under the Canopy

The Moonlit Collection

Two new Monaluna fabric collections have been hitting stores over the past few weeks, and it’s been so exciting to see the designs out in the world. It’s one of my favorite things about this job: seeing the fabrics in action, or even just set up in display in shops. I love the arc of the process, from the sketches in my head, to artwork, to samples, to final fabric and then… quilts, or children’s dresses, or curtains – whatever their end use becomes.

The first collection, Under the Canopy, feels familiar to the Monaluna family – lots of woodland animals, mushrooms, moths and wildflowers, and even some little fairy houses. The collection started out being a bit more fairy-focused, but it developed into a more down-to-earth woodland group. (I’m going to find an outlet for those fairies sooner or later, though!) It’s a smaller, more focused group at just 12 prints, but it coordinates well with the larger Moonlit for blenders.

The second collection, called Moonlit, was a total departure for me, and I’m so excited about it. This one is all about COLOR. It’s just four simple blender prints, but I got to create a palette that sings for me, and works with past and upcoming collections. It has been so. much. fun! In my pre-Windham career I was pretty limited in how many prints I could do for each collection, and was usually able to do just one color way per print, so the palettes were fairly paired down. I absolutely love having all these colors to work with – it’s like getting the big box of crayola to play with when you’ve just had the basic 8-set.

For each collection, Windham compiles a look book with all the fabrics and quilt ideas and patterns. Here’s the newest one – I hope you find it inspiring!
