Monaluna Classic Prints on Spoonflower

Over the years, I’ve gotten so many requests for out-of print fabrics, and it always sends me on a scavenger hunt of the attic, the studio closet, the warehouse and our storage area to see if there’s some little piece of a print that got squirreled away somewhere (full disclosure, there often was). One of the downsides to doing (usually) only one printing per collection is that sometimes I don’t expect how popular a print is going to be, or it’s a sleeper print that picks up only after most of the inventory is gone, and I just didn’t print enough of it.

In the old days, if a print was popular enough I would include it in a new collection, maybe even in a new color way, so it got a new life. Now that I’ve stopped producing the fabric myself and Windham Fabrics is producing the new collections, that’s harder to do. Spoonflower is a great way to make the older prints available for fabrics, as well as other Print-on-Demand products like wallpaper. They offer several organic options, as well as some alternatives that I wasn’t able to use as often, like canvas and linen. And for the apparel sewists, you can get the classic Monaluna prints on organic knit! Print on Demand (or POD) is relatively more eco-friendly, too, as they only print what’s ordered (so no excess), and the printing inks are water-based and sustainable, and use less water to produce than conventional screen printing.

Check out to see the available prints, and if there’s something you want that’s not up there yet, let me know! I’m also happy to do new color ways and scales, if there’s something you’d like to see. There’s so much flexibility with this option, and I’ve been having a lot of fun playing around with new versions. You can access my Spoonflower shop here.
